From the looks of things, 2008 is shaping up to be a "year of character introductions"...I just thought I'd get a head start. I won't be introducing a new character with every story, but there are going to be quite a few.<br /><br />Getting back to Murray...he's one of several characters that I created between 1993 and 1998 that I drew so infrequently that they mostly just showed up in group pictures that I would draw of all my characters together (the Obligatory Dinosaur being the most infamous of that bunch...he was created specifically to show up in the group pictures and nowhere else).<br /><br />True, I'm going to introduce a lot of new characters, but the core characters are going to remain the same.<br /><br />Most of these new guys (and girls) are going to be secondary (or thirdary, maybe?) characters at best...Showing up when they're needed, and being nowhere to be found otherwise.<br /><br />Oops. I'm supposed to be using this LiveJournal account to post artwork in.<br /><br />Maybe next time! urn:lj:livejournal.com:atom1:flounderville:869 2007-11-09T19:45:41Z 2007-11-09T19:45:41Z Originally, in the November 6th comic, Fishman was going to have a box of Oregan-O's on the table with him...but there wasn't enough room in the finished comic.<br /><br />The box still got made, though!<br /><br /><a href="http://pics.livejournal.com/flounderville/pic/00001ty0/"><img width="214" height="240" border="0" alt="" src="http://pics.livejournal.com/flounderville/pic/00001ty0/s320x240" /></a> urn:lj:livejournal.com:atom1:flounderville:678 2007-10-03T23:43:15Z 2007-10-03T23:43:15Z And now, the whole story as to why the webcomic "Fishman" became "Flounderville"...<br /><br />A message was posted on the Fishman forums claiming that someone else owned the copyrights to the title "Fishman", and that legal action would be taken if things weren't changed.<br /><br />At first, we were shocked and upset...because we had been working on Fishman for many many years (in non-webcomic form).<br /><br />Later, after having time to settle down and conduct proper research into what copyright laws are, and what they cover, we found that we had in no way violated any copyright laws, since copyrights only cover the body of the work, not the title.<br /><br />However, we also uncovered something else during our research. There are a lot of things called "Fishman" out there! If we wanted to stand out in the crowd, we would need more than just an alternate pronunciation of the title ("fish-muhn" rather than "fish-man") to accomplish that.<br /><br />Thus "Flounderville" was born.<br /><br />We chose this name based on it being the town in which the comic takes place. This will make it more apparent that, while Fishman is (and will remain) the main character, the other characters are all equally important.<br /><br />We're going to use this blog in a completely different way than the blog from before. This blog will mostly have sketches and whatnot, rather than news about the site (which is now contained underneath the comic itself on the main page)<br /><br />We thank you again for your continued patience and support!
